Warehouse Wonders

I'm in love with Uganda, hopelessly and completely infatuated with it. Every time I go I am amazed by its absolute beauty and brokenness all at once. My home church of 20 odd years, Stony Point, takes a missions team to work in Uganda each summer, and while there we work with our dear friend Pastor Isaac Wagaba and his orphanage, Canaan Childrens Home. This year we were able to host pastor conferences, bible clubs, visit and teach in the local schools and also visit local clinics and hospitals and deliver medical supplies to them. During the time we were able to spend in the hospitals and clinics, the need for more medical supplies and equipment was clear.
After another crazy-wonderful trip this summer, our fearless trip leader JDK started dreaming up a larger than life plan to get HUGE a container (the size of a tractor trailer cargo area) fill it with medical supplies and other needed equipment (ie shoes, clothes, bikes...) and ship it to Uganda. It sounded like a great idea until it came to the logistics. But God has a way of making things happen and surprising us with every turn. So after meeting with a missionary who had done a similar project in the past, doing lots of research, and determining that it COULD be done, the work began. Long story short, with a lot of calls, emails, etc. the supplies slowly began to materialize. Some fabulous friends offered up space in their warehouse to store everything while the project was in process and then, the REAL work began. For weeks now several doctors, nurses and other willing hands have been hard at work at the warehouse to get everything organized. Everyone who has been involved in the project is amazing- the time, energy, patience and persistence it takes to plan, inventory and pack all of these supplies is simply unbelievable! Once the shipment arrives it will be distributed to several facilities around the country by JDK and other dedicated and willing people.
I've gotten to spend a few afternoons at the warehouse between classes the past week or two and today I snapped a few pictures to bring to life the project for those of you who have been praying so faithfully and contributed so generously!
